Description
The Red maple derives its name from the bright color it displays throughout the season on its twigs, flowers, young leaves, and winged fruit, followed in the fall by bright scarlet foliage. As a keystone plant, native maples support nearly 300 species of moth and butterfly caterpillars. Including the attractive rosy-maple moth. Red maple flowers supply early-season nectar and pollen, and the seeds of female trees provide nourishment for birds and small mammals.
Plant in sun/shade & soil dry to wet, but prefers moist soils.
